Description
Green Day's title track "American Idiot" is a high-energy punk anthem and political protest song released in 2004 that marked a creative reinvention for the band. The song, and the rock opera album it introduces, was lauded by critics for its powerful, politically charged message that resonated with a generation disillusioned by the media and the Bush administration. With its abrasive sound, critique of mass media and Billy Joe Armstrongs distinctive vocal style it's been hailed as "a modern day masterpiece" as well as often cited as a defining protest song of the 2000s. For me it just simply kicks arse...
